About Wine & Spirits in the Quarter
We're not your ordinary liquor store, not are we a stuffy wine cellar. We threw out the old "how to run a wine and spirits shop" manual a long time ago. It's important to us that we enjoy what we do and never miss an oportunity to replace stuffy and dry with relaxed fun. Our dearest-held tennant is to serve our customers to the best of our abilities, and hold some great surprises for them on our shelves.
We are located in The Quarter, a block of shops built in the style of the New Orleans' French Quarter, complete with courtyards and tucked away shops, salons, and offices. A number of great restaurants share this idyllic spot at the edge of Hinds and Rankin counties, including Monte's, Poet's II, and China Belle.
Wine and Spirits in the Quarter is a rare commodity in any market, combining:
-
Friendly and knowledgable staff
-
Exceptional selection of wines and spirits
-
Competative pricing
-
Case discounts
- Discounts "just for fun"
Besides, where else would you get Kilt Friday? Anyone wearing a kilt into the store on a Friday receives a special discount.
With the exception of busy holiday seasons, we offer a case discount for correct identification of the day's movie from a still photo. (Where would you get it?)

“This will be a very special year for the event. In the past, we’ve intermixed classic favorites, hard-to-find Whiskies as well as Whisky exclusive to the CelticFest Tasting. This year’s is a first, in that every one of the Whiskies to be served is new to the state since the tasting began twelve years ago. If you come to this year’s tasting, you will have a chance to be introduced to a complete portfolio of Whisky before anyone else in Mississippi has a chance to buy them. You’ll be the first to see this line of new and exciting Whisky.”
~ Nick Lord, GM Wine and Spirits in the Quarter
The speaker for 2010, Peter Schwartz, is founder and President of an exclusive distribution company specializing in unique and hard to find spirits from around the world. He has worked in our industry for over 35 years. As a lifetime member of The Keepers of the Quaich, the exclusive Scotch whisky society, Peter brings his nosing and tasting skills along with his mastery of knowledge of whisky to both entertain and educate us all about the nectar we all love so much.
It is important to the organizers of the Tasting and of CelticFest Mississippi that participants drink responsibly. “We always encourage folks to bring a designated driver, and we have gifts just for ‘DD’s’ at the Tasting,” says Lord. “Also, there’s plenty going on to entertain, since CelticFest kicks off at the same time with multiple stages running simultaneously until midnight, hours after the end of the Tasting.”
